I have a passion for colour and texture and my work is inspired by natural forms. Discovering silk painting opened up a world of wonderful colour in which I instantly fell in love and much of my silk painting is abstract, concentrating on the natural mixing of colours as applied to the silk using a variety of techniques.

Feltmaking has been a natural progression for me allowing an exploration of texture and form which I find limited through silk painting alone. The incorporation of silk and other fibres into felt offers wonderful possibilities. Feltmaking is a uniquely joyful experience, starting out with shapeless fibres from which evolves an object with a rich texture, form and colour. The tactile nature and element of unpredictability in the process makes each piece an exciting adventure to make.

My current work includes scarves, bags, notebooks, jewellery and decorative pieces in silk and felt. I am happy to share my skills and have run silk painting and feltmaking workshops.

I am a member of the International Feltmakers Association, the Eastern Region Textile Forum and the Guild of Silk Painters.
